What are these children doing to earn a living?

Many of them are shoe shine boys or girls earning a few cents a customer.

Much as we believe child labour should be eradicated, we help to support these children who are taking action into their own hands to earn their living.   We feel that earning their living in a legitimate way as shoe shine boys is far better than engaging in criminal activities as basically they have few choices. 

Hard working kids can sometimes earn enough to support their younger brothers and sisters.  We hope that one day they will go to school for part of the day and learn to read and write like all other kids.
